Dr Angus Hay
Chief Technology Officer
Dr Angus Hay, PrEng, CEng, MIET, MIEEE, FSAIEE, was born and educated in Johannesburg, South Africa, and has a BSc(Eng)Elec (1987) and a PhD in digital transmission (1998) from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Dr Hay joined Neotel at its inception in 2006 as employee number two, heading Strategy. He later became Chief Technology Officer, and is today responsible for Managed Services and Voice products. He was previously Chief Technology Officer of Transtel, the former telecommunications division of Transnet Ltd. He is a Director of the Number Portability Company (NPC), and was Chair of the Management Committee of the West Africa Cable System (WACS) in 2012.
Dr Hay was President of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE) in 2010, and has served on the Council of the Institute for 8 years. He is a Fellow of the SAIEE, was chairman of its Electronics and Software committee in 2005, and received the Institute’s annual Young Achiever award 1999. As a postgraduate student in the early 1990s, he took part in the establishment of the Internet between academic institutions in South Africa.

Howard is an innovator with an eye for detail and an incredible ability to spot a gap in the market. He is a qualified attorney with BA and LLB degrees from Wits University and a Masters degree from Brandeis University in the USA. Howard also studied International Conflict Resolution under Prof Herb C. Kelman at Harvard University and completed his law articles (and worked as an attorney) at Werksmans Attorneys. From 1994-2000, Howard was employed as Executive Director at the Independent Electoral Commission and from there he moved to Healthbridge, as their Chief Operating Officer. In 2006, Howard co-founded Saicom Voice Services and he remains a Director of Saicom Holdings (Pty) Ltd, Saicom Voice Services (Pty) Ltd and now Tariffic (Pty) Ltd.
Jed studied at York University and has spent the last 20 years in the IT industry. Working as the CIO for Amvia, Jed helped pioneer the voicemail, network fax and unified messaging industry in South Africa in the 90s, including delivering SA’s first contact centre using VOIP over ATM. When changes in the telecoms sector in SA made hosting possible, Jed co-founded 1Stream in 2007, a dedicated hosted contact centre company. 1Stream specialize in providing ‘Cloud’ contact centre technology within South Africa.

Andrew Loadman has been in the Audio Video industry for seventeen years, with a BEng Hons Engineering degree from the University of the West England Andrew has a Technical as well as a Sales and Training background. Andrew joined ClearOne in 2003 and is currently Sales Director for North EMEA and Oceania. Prior to ClearOne, Andrew held International roles for Motion Media, the videophone company and Symonds project management.

Ellipsis Regulatory Solutions
Dominic is the founder and owner of Ellipsis Regulatory Solutions a niche consultancy founded in 2007 which specialises in legal and regulatory advice in ICT law, policy and regulation. He holds a master’s degree in ICT law and is a practising attorney. Dominic is involved at all stages of the communications law and regulation-making process and liaises closely with the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA), Government departments, SAPS Cybercrime Division, National Gambling Board and the Film and Publications Board on an on-going basis. He provides telecommunications regulatory and policy advice to the current ICT Policy Review Process in South Africa as a service provider to the ICT Panel of Experts.

Euphoria Telecom’s CEO, George Golding, is a natural-born entrepreneur who is as fervent about IT as he is about affordable communications services and business integrity. He is driven by the burning ambition to see the promise of cloud computing decoded into tangible business benefits and to provide fellow small and medium business owners with customer-centric alternatives to the common low standards of products and services in South Africa. George has a postgraduate diploma in Distributed Commercial Information Systems (UCT) and B.Com Honours in Information Systems (UCT, 2001).
Uriel has worked in the software industry for 15 years and been at Microsoft for the last 9. He is the Business Manager / Office Division in South Africa responsible for Lync and Office 365. Uriel started his career developing portal and collaboration software. In his time at Microsoft he’s had the opportunity to work in various roles but as the business lead for the Office division, he’s back where he started – helping customers and partners realise their potential through the effective use of world class business productivity solutions!
Far South Networks
Michael Walton is co-founder and Technical Director of Far South Networks, where he has spent the past 7 years overseeing the hardware and software development of their range of high-tech VoIP PBXs and Gateways. Michael has been active in the telecommunications OEM industry for 21 years, and has an M.Sc in Electronic Engineering from Wits University. Most of his career has been spent designing innovative telecommunications equipment in the converged voice space. Lately, Michael has also taken a keen interest in the revolutionary changes that are underway in the industry as a result of the next wave of convergence with the WWW, and the steady migration of services to the Cloud.
